Filming updates
The last two weeks of filming I think have been the most fun so far!
A steampunk Market Place filled with the most amazing people one weekend followed by a road trip filming that was fun and full of laughter.

Mantecoza Steampunk Market Place Filming Information
It’s slightly less than a week to the Mantecoza Market Place Filming!! Are you ready to have fun?
For those coming please read the following announcement!
Date of Filming: Sunday March 25, 2012
Call time: 9am (the original call time was 10am) to 6pm. We want to make the most of the daylight hours so an extra hour is an awesome thing. 
And we thank you for your patience with the time change!
Location of the filming: 925 Grand Ave (formerly The Paisley Violin).
Attire: Please come dressed in your steampunk best!
Parking is going to be on the South West corner of 15th Avenue and Roosevelt Street (It is a dirt parking lot. There will be a hand-painted sign out front that says “Steam”)

We are working on a shuttle so that you don’t have to walk from the parking to the site.
There will be a Steampunk Flash Mob during the filming near lunch! The video will be posted in the next 24 hours for the dance moves! Stay tuned!
Saturday is going to be a set up and set dressing day at the filming location. We definitely will appreciate it if you want to come out and help! Best time to come ready to work will be around 11am.

Getting to know the Cast & Crew – Katherine Stewart
Katherine Stewart portrays the beautiful and capable Lady Chenna Danbeau, Minister of Wizard in Mantecoza.
Let’s get to know her better!
Describe yourself in one sentence: Uhh… arty girl; kinda strange.
What was your favorite movie growing up and why? I know Sue would say Mary Poppins, but there are a ton.
I loved Sleeping Beauty, Music Man, Scarlet Pimpernel, It’s a Wonderful Life, Casablanca… I guess I’ll stop now.
What was the last movie you saw? Terry Pratchett’s Going Postal. Now I have an itty bitty crush on Richard Coyle.
What is the last food someone should ever try and offer you: I am not partial to any of the various squashes.
Tell us a little about Mantecoza in your own words (without giving away any secrets of course): It’s joyous, it’s fun, it’s adventurous, it’s cheeky, it’s swashbuckling! Love buckling those swashes! Gadgets! Corsets! Magic!
Without giving anything away. Reveal a secret about the Mantecoza plot in one word: “Punch.” Draw your own conclusions.
If you and Chenna met on the road what do you think would be each others first impression of the other: I think I’d probably be totally scared of her. She has issues. She’d probably think I was a complete sissy.
You were one of the stars of the Phoenix Comic Con commercials last year. Was that a fun experience? Double YES! If they asked me again I’d do it in a heartbeat. I even got recognized for them at the con. Geeks rule!
You are also the artistic director of a theatre. Tell us a little about it: It’s… fun? It’s hard work? I’ve been doing it for over six years, so it’s kind of my life now. Everything I do is directed toward DRT (www.desertrosetheatre.com) and pretty much all my friends these days are ones I’ve met through the theatre, whether it was directly through a show, or they were friends of the theatre. We do everything on a shoestring and we try to make it look like a million bucks. We love the sacrifice, but we sure don’t turn our noses up when someone gives us money!
We are a non-profit, after all!
Having been in so many plays and musicals you must have a favorite: For plays, probably
Measure for Measure. At least right now. For musicals, I’m keeping that one to myself. It makes the snobs laugh at me.
If someone had never been to a Shakespearean play before which one do you think would be a good one for a beginner? Start with the comedies. Much Ado is great because it’s a rom-com, Midsummer is fun, Twelfth Night rocks. Make sure it’s a professional show. And start light… you know, not the “look at my awesome concept but I don’t know what I’m saying” shows. Starting light can help you get comfy listening to the language. Save King Lear and Coriolanus for when you feel confident.
What playwright do you think does not receive as much credit as they deserve? Sue Kaff! Kellen Garner!
What are some of your upcoming projects? Um, I’m playing the title character in Mary Stuart, then I’m directing my own adaptation of The Picture of Dorian Gray, then I’m involved in another web series this summer… then I’m planning next season. So, I have no social life.
